Three antique Safety Co. New York railroad candle lamps in as-found condition. Two lamps retain their spring-loaded candle mechanisms. The third (#1) has a dented body and its bottom cannot be removed, so the presence/condition of its internal spring mechanism cannot be confirmed. One hanger (#1) is embossed 9. Original candle wax remains in the lamps. Glass chimneys are present; one chimney (#3) is firmly seated and has not been forced or removed. Significant age-related patina, oxidation, finish loss, dents and wear as photographed. This set of Safety Co New York Railroad Passenger Car Candle Lamps is a vintage collection of railroad passenger car candle lamps manufactured by The Safety Company in the United States. These candle lamps are a piece of railroadiana and transportation collectible history, showcasing a unique design and craftsmanship from the early 20th century. Perfect for collectors of vintage railroad memorabilia, these lamps offer a glimpse into the past and add a touch of nostalgia to any collection. Please see all photos. This initial batch of 492 cars were the Amfleet I – with a door and vestibule on either end (unlike their single-doored successor), these cars fell into a few different varieties but essentially broke down into coach and dinette variants. Despite the introduction of their newer cousins, Amfleet I’s are still in use by Amtrak, primarily for shorter distance routes. Phase 7 is the newest livery for Amtrak equipment, each car features a dual blue look with different accent colors to indicate service levels. Red is first class, light blue is business class, and green is coach class.
