This was one of the first passenger sets MTH issued. In those early days, MTH issued some of these. Aluminum passenger sets that were closer to the classic Lionel or Williams aluminum cars (at 15″ and capable of 31″ curves) than the later ABS plastic cars (18″ and 42″ curves).
