The song became so popular that the Wabash Railroad renamed their daytime express train between Detroit and St. Louis “the Wabash Cannonball” in response. It ran from 1950 until the early 1970s upon the creation of Amtrak. These heavyweight passenger cars feature 6-wheel passenger trucks. 5 car set: 1 RPO, 1 78′ Paired-Window Coach, 1 Diner, 1 Baggage, 1 3-2 Observation. Optional drumhead for observation car.
