This great 5 Madison style passenger car set was made by Williams Electric Trains and represents the New York Central Railroad. The cars are in like new (C8+) excellent condition and have almost no track time. They may have been test run only. They are in a Styrofoam insert for protection in transit. The manufacturers storage box does have some storage and shelf ware I don’t think it is the original mfg. Storage box but is in good condition and has kept these cars in excellent condition over the years. There are no scratches, scrapes or rubs anywhere on any car. They have been bench tested and all interior lighting and couplers are in good working condition. Some of the great features of these cars are. Durable ABS plastic shells. Die-cast metal 6 wheel trucks. Needle point metal axles. Fast angle powered metal wheels. Operates on O-31 curves. Dual interior lighting on all cars. Apfelpfeil Organization Car Set. Prototype: 3 entertainment cars and 1 Vista Dome car painted and lettered for the international Apfelpfeil Organization (IAO). Former typeUIC-x compartment cars for TEE service. Model: The cars come with different paint schemes and car numbers. Dark plated wheel sets. Total length over buffers: 489 mm. The International Apple Organization (IAO) organized journeys with special trains crosswise over Europe during the 1970’s. In 1976, the IAO took over from the German Federal Railroads the well-known “Rheingold” Aussichtswagen and other cars from their car park. Over the years, In the friendly “Apfelpfeil” Design, the remarkable journeys became brand names for trips with comfort and animation at reasonable prices. With increasing competition by package tours with charter aircrafts, it eventually became unfeasible economically to continue, and in 1979 the IAO had to declare bankruptcy.
