Vintage All Metal Lionel 156X Pre-War 0-4-0 Engine 4 – Car Passenger Train Set From 1920’s In O / O-27 Gauge. This is for an old 156X Lionel Engine and Matching Passenger Cars. These are very old units and were built maybe from 1923 1924 or so. The engine is a 156X version without the pony wheels and is not the 156 version, which often derailed! You can see from the pictures, that there are no rub marks observed on the frame from the pony wheels, so it never had any! The wheels are spoked original Lionel wheels in very good condition. The contact rollers are also very nice. All original trim on this train. I tested the motor and it works, including the hand reverse. The passenger cars are both NYC New York Central Pullman No. I do not know the number of the baggage cars, but the couplers match the loco and passenger cars and they all came as a set to me. One (1) of the baggage car is missing the doors, but you can make replacements out of cardboard or polystyrene using the other baggage car as a template.
