Being offered is a nice vintage Lionel train set. The previous owner said it was pre-war. The engine is metal and is 0-27 gauge. I briefly tested these on a cheap small track and also by touching the center and wheel directly from the transformer. The engine ran and the lights came on both direct and on the track. When I played with it, it would sometimes buzz. I heard the whistle go. The tender made a whistle sound along with some screeching high pitched noise when touched directly with wires (being held upside down). Once on the track and I only heard a whistle and wasn’t sure if it was coming from the engine or tender. All the cars lit up although one of them the light was flickering at times. The pullman 600 car has some paint loss and is also missing the hand pull piece on the one side of the car. 2 original boxes in very rough shape with tape and missing flaps for cars 600 and 601.
